Binary star database and classification of eclipsing binaries

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
In this work we present a procedure for the automatic classification of eclipsing binaries. The procedure is based on the data from a new catalogue of 6330 eclipsing variable stars, compiled by the authors and representing the largest list of eclipsing binaries classified from observations.

Eclipsing binaries among high-mass stars

EAS Publications Series, 2013
We present the first results of a comprehensive photometric O-star survey performed with a robotic twin refractor at the Universitatssternwarte Bochum located near Cerro Armazones in Chile. For three high-mass stars, Pismis 24-1, CPD − 51∘  8946, and HD 319702, we determined the period through the Lafler-Kinman algorithm and modelled the light curves ...

Comparative Analysis of Phenomenological Approximations for the Light Curves of Eclipsing Binary Stars with Additional Parameters

Astrophysics, 2016
A comparative analysis is made of special profiles of eclipses used for phenomenological modelling of the light curves of eclipsing binary stars. Families of functions which generalize local approximations and functions which are theoretically unlimited ...

Clustering of eclipsing binary light curves through functional principal component analysis

Astrophysics and Space Science, 2022
In this paper, we revisit the problem of clustering 1318 new variable stars found in the Milky way. Our recent work distinguishes these stars based on their light curves which are univariate series of brightness from the stars observed at discrete time ...
