Damage caused by Phoracantha mastersi larvae are the primary cause of forest decline in Australia's subalpine forests. Behaviour of male adult beetles was tested in response to a suite of commercial semiochemicals and conspecifics engaged in active copulation within a Y‐maze.

Daily Eclosion Patterns in Nymphalid Butterflies and Their Causes [PDF]
: The molt from pupae to adult stage, called eclosion, occurs at specific times of the day in many holometabolous insects. These events are not well studied within Lepidopteran species.

Temperature is an important factor to determine the activity of insects. We tested the performance of the non‐native larval parasitoid Leptopilina japonica (Hymenoptera: Figitidae) under realistic climatic conditions to improve understanding about its ongoing spread and seasonal abundance.

Aedes aegypti females were significantly repelled by both volatile DEET and citronella oil in comparison to control (ethanol‐exposed) mosquitoes. Global gene expression changes were largest in the mosquito mouthparts, with notable downregulation of the three subunits comprising the mosquito CO2 receptor (Gr1, 2 and 3).

Damage to Wing Imaginal Discs Delays Pupariation and Adult Eclosion.
(A–F) Timing of pupariation and adult eclosion following induction of cell ablation in the wing disc at the indicated time. Fraction of larvae that had (A, C, E) pupariated or (B, D, F) eclosed as adults are plotted relative to time in hours AEL for ...
