The original formulation of ecofeminism was an integration of feminist analysis with the ecological world, which recognized that the same ideologies and processes (patriarchy and capitalism) subjugated both women and the natural world. Ecofeminism was born of its historical moment, uniting two areas of activism by the mid-1970s.
