Ecohydrology of Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is a key mediator of hydraulic fluxes between the land and atmosphere: for every gram of carbon assimilated by a plant, about 500 g of water are transpired to the atmosphere. In dryland ecosystems, this balance between carbon assimilation and water loss is particularly delicate.

Ecohydrology; contribution to science and practice

This book is the result of three symposia of the Dutch Society for Landscape Ecology (in Dutch: WLO, Werkgemeenschap voor Landschaps¬ecologisch Onderzoek). The first symposium in 2005 was about the National Ecological Network in the Netherlands. The reason was that the implementation of the NEN, decided upon in 1990, was halfway.
