Integrating ecoinformatics resources on the semantic web [PDF]
We describe ELVIS (the Ecosystem Location Visualization and Information System), a suite of tools for constructing food webs for a given location. We express both ELVIS input and output data in OWL, thereby enabling its integration with other semantic web resources.

Ecoinformatics can reveal yield gaps associated with crop-pest interactions: a proof-of-concept. [PDF]
Farmers and private consultants execute a vast, decentralized data collection effort with each cropping cycle, as they gather pest density data to make real-time pest management decisions. Here we present a proof of concept for an ecoinformatics approach

Ecoinformatics and Soil-Plant Formations
As mentioned above, the field of ecoinformatics provides concepts, methods and standards in order to guide management and analysis of ecological data with particular emphasis on exploration of co-occurrences of organisms and their linkage to environmental conditions and taxon attributes (Boden et al. 1994; Dengler et al. 2011; Fang et al.

Tropical Cyclogenesis and Ecoinformatics Methods
Undoubtedly, the state of the ocean-atmosphere system (OAS) plays an important role in the life of many countries. For instance, the tropical cyclones as hazardous state of the OAS occupy a specific position on the potential damages caused by hurricanes, where the risks for economic losses and victims are very high.

New Ecoinformatics Tools in Environmental Science: Applications and Decision-making
The greatly enhanced awareness today of environmental problems has led to a resurgence of interest in all aspects of global environmental monitoring. The need to reduce pollution of the hydrosphere and to reduce the risk of damage from extreme environmental processes has led to a large increase in the number of theoretical and applied investigations in

New land tenure fences are still cropping up in the Greater Mara
Expanding and intensifying anthropogenic land use is one of the greatest drivers of changes of biodiversity loss and political inequality worldwide. In the Greater Mara, Kenya, a trend of private land enclosure is currently happening, led by smallholders

How Reproducibility Will Accelerate Discovery Through Collaboration in Physio-Logging
What new questions could ecophysiologists answer if physio-logging research was fully reproducible? We argue that technical debt (computational hurdles resulting from prioritizing short-term goals over long-term sustainability) stemming from insufficient
