A review of programs that targeted environmental determinants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health [PDF]

open access: yes
This review finds that there are relatively few papers describing interventions that target environmental determinants of Indigenous health.Abstract: Objective: Effective interventions to improve population and individual health require environmental ...

Grip and Grasp: Lizard Claw Inspired Robotic Manipulators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Our study identifies the most effective lizard claw shape for use as an end effector in a bioinspired robotic manipulator. By examining key geometric features and combining them into comparative indices, the Crotaphytus collaris claw is found to be the best fit.

Exogenous Myo-Inositol Promotes Sugar Beet Growth and Nutrient Uptake in Saline-Alkali Soil

open access: yesPlants
Saline-alkali stress restricts crop yield by disrupting nutrient and water uptake, ionic balance, and oxidative homeostasis. Although myo-inositol enhances tolerance to abiotic stress, its role in sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) under saline-alkali ...

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

AutomataGPT: Transformer‐Based Forecasting and Ruleset Inference for Two‐Dimensional Cellular Automata

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce AutomataGPT, a generative pretrained transformer (GPT) trained on synthetic spatiotemporal data from 2D cellular automata to learn symbolic rules. Demonstrating strong performance on both forward and inverse tasks, AutomataGPT establishes a scalable, domain‐agnostic framework for interpretable modeling, paving the way for future ...

The effects of stress on benthic algal communities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The effects of stress on both microalgal and macroalgal communities are considered. On one hand the contrasting approaches of studies of these two communities reflect intrinsic differences in plant size, longevity and ease of handling.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Effect of Environmental Tax on Ecological Quality Using Machine Learning Algorithm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Economics and Policy
Many developing nations are considering environmental taxes as a way to raise money and fulfill their obligations in combating climate change and promote sustainable development. Recently, government of Ghana tax policy of E-levy as well as emissions tax has received mixed reaction by various stakeholders.
