Control of Bacterial Attachment on Macroporous PDMS/Paraffin SLIPS With Varying Lubricant Viscosity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Slippery liquid‐infused porous surfaces (SLIPS) prepared from macroporous PDMS, infused with medical‐grade paraffins, were systematically investigated regarding the correlation of viscosity, surface corrugation, bulk porosity, and bacterial resistance. Substrate porosity was found to dominate lubricant stabilization and the antifouling activity.

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Evaluation of ant diversity (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in the National Park «Smolny» and the Mordovia State Nature Reserve (European Russia), based on different sampling methods

open access: yesNature Conservation Research: Заповедная наука
Formicidae (hereinafter – ants) are key components of terrestrial ecosystems and serve as effective indicators of biodiversity status. The study of the ant fauna is particularly important in Protected Areas, where natural species assemblages are ...

The Ecological Risk Index and Environmental Health

open access: yesJournal of Scientific Research and Reports, 2015
Background: The correlation between health and the environment has been acknowledged since ancient times. Values of environmental parameters situated beyond the ecological range produce vulnerabilities and latent pathological mechanisms or generate other reactions. This phenomenon can be called ecological pathogeny.

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

Multimodal Engagement Assessment in Children During Invented Story Paradigm With a Social Robot

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal framework is proposed to assess children's engagement during storytelling interactions with a social robot. Gaze, physiological, and behavioral data are combined and validated against observer ratings. An automated gaze‐labeling strategy is introduced, and supervised classifiers achieve high accuracy. The study supports scalable engagement
