Multi‐Enzyme Mimetic Molybdenum Nitride Nanozymes Reshape Subgingival Microenvironment for Synergistic Periodontitis Therapy via ROS Regulation and Microbiome Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease initiated and sustained by plaque microorganisms and host immune response, remains an intractable oral disease and a leading cause of tooth loss worldwide. Traditional mechanical debridement and adjunctive antibiotic or antiseptic therapy often shows limited efficacy due to the complex anatomical ...

Freshwater water quality criteria for phthalate esters and recommendations for the revision of the water quality standards

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
With increasing urbanization and rapid industrialization, more and more environmental problems have arisen. Phthalates (PAEs) are the foremost and most widespread plasticizers and are readily emitted from these manufactured products into the environment.

A bibliometric study of the trend in articles related to risk assessment published in Science Citation Index

open access: yes, 2009
[[abstract]]In this study, a bibliometric method was used to evaluate the global scientific production of risk assessment research for the last 16 years and provide insights into the characteristics of the risk assessment research activities and ...

Distribution, pollution, and ecological risks of rare earth elements in soil of the northeastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

open access: yes, 2018
Information on rare earth elements (REEs) in soils of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is very limited. Therefore, this study performed field sampling to explore the concentrations, contamination degree, and potential ecological risks of REEs in soil of the ...

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Environmental DNA Metabarcoding Reveals Divergent Patterns of Biodiversity, Community Assembly, and Environmental Sensitivity Across Taxa in Adjacent Rivers

open access: yesBiology
The differentiated responses of biological groups to environmental change are central to river ecosystem management; however, the shared and distinct environmental selection processes that shape their spatial patterns remain understudied. We investigated

Joint ANSTO/CSIRO seminar on ecological risk assessment, April 1996.

open access: yes, 1996
A joint ANSTO/CSIRO seminar was held at Lucas Heights on 10-11th April 1996. Its aim was to describe the current state of research and assessment capabilities within the scientific research organisations, to identify the gaps in these capabilities and to

Modulation of human α4β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors by brominated and halogen-free flame retardants as a measure for in vitro neurotoxicity

open access: yes, 2012
Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) are abundant persistent organic pollutants with well-studied toxicity. The toxicological and ecological concern associated with BFRs argues for replacement by safer alternatives.

β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

Assessment of water ecological health in shallow lakes: A new framework based on water resource-environment-ecology

open access: yesEcological Indicators
In lake ecosystems, human disturbances can severely damage ecological integrity, particularly in shallow lakes. Existing research on water ecological health (WEH) assessment has often overlooked critical aspects such as water resources, water environment,
