Litho-paleoecological characteristics of the Upper Ordovician reef Bol'shaya Kos'yu (Ilych River, Northern Urals)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
The litho-paleoecological characteristics of the Upper Ordovician reef Bol’shaya Kos’yu was given. The reef paleolandscape profile - reef plateau, reef internal lagoons, and frontal reef zone was determined, and reef facies were described.

Ecological succession of grass slopes

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architects, 1971
The judgement of grass slopes conditions must be done ecologically, for grass slopes are to be constructed to improve the localities and the landscapes from the road. The ecological judgement of grass slopes is equal to the judgement of the progression of succession. And succession must be judged from two viewpoints.

Single‐Atom Pt Anchoring on Self‐Doped ZrO2@G‐C3N4 Nanostructure Enables Efficient Photocatalytic Seawater Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Grain‐like Zr3+‐ZrO2 and Pt single atoms are integrated into an S‐scheme Zr3+‐ZrO2@g‐C3N4 heterostructure to enable efficient visible‐light‐driven seawater hydrogen production. The combined effect of Pt single‐atom sites and the S‐scheme charge‐transfer pathway accelerates carrier separation, preserves strong redox ability, and markedly enhances ...

Transcription Factor Promiscuity Drives Regulatory Rewiring and Evolvability in Gene Networks in Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
When a master transcription factor (TF) is lost, bacteria can rapidly rewire gene regulatory networks by co‐opting related regulators. Using experimental evolution in Pseudomonas fluorescens, we show that TF promiscuity (low‐level, non‐cognate binding) provides the raw material for rewiring. Successful co‐option follows a predictable hierarchy governed

Longitudinal Assessment of Land Use Change Impacts on Carbon Services in the Southeast Region, Vietnam

open access: yesGeographies
Land use change strongly influences ecosystem carbon services. This study evaluates long-term variations in carbon storage resulting from land use transitions in the Southeast region of Vietnam during 1990–2020.

Genetic Control of Tissue Remodeling by a Non‐Coding SNP in ITGA8 Explains Carotenoid‐Based Color Polymorphism in Marine Mollusks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, the orange‐muscle giant abalone (Haliotis gigantea) is used as a model to identify a non‐coding SNP that disrupts the interaction between ITGA8 pre‐mRNA and the splicing factor ILF2, leading to altered ITGA8 splicing. These splicing changes promote carotenoid accumulation in abalone muscle through the regulation of tissue remodeling ...

Remote sensing for site selection in vegetation survey along a successional gradient in post‐industrial vegetation

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Vegetation characteristics are an important proxy to measure the outcome of ecological restoration and monitor vegetation changes. Similarly, the classification of remotely sensed images is a prerequisite for many field ecological studies.

30 years of hay meadow succession without fertilization: how does it affect soil and avifauna groups? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the present study we investigated the effects of hay meadow succession in the brook valley system of the Drentse A Nature Reserve, in the NE of the Netherlands.
