Social–Ecological Factors and Ecosystem Service Trade-Offs/Synergies in Vegetation Change Zones of Qilian Mountain National Park During 2000–2020

open access: yesRemote Sensing
An ecological restoration assessment aims to evaluate whether ecological restoration projects (ERPs) have achieved predefined ecological objectives, such as improving fractional vegetation cover (FVC) and enhancing ecosystem services (ESs), as well as to

Multi‐Enzyme Mimetic Molybdenum Nitride Nanozymes Reshape Subgingival Microenvironment for Synergistic Periodontitis Therapy via ROS Regulation and Microbiome Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease initiated and sustained by plaque microorganisms and host immune response, remains an intractable oral disease and a leading cause of tooth loss worldwide. Traditional mechanical debridement and adjunctive antibiotic or antiseptic therapy often shows limited efficacy due to the complex anatomical ...

Long time-series and high-frequency ecological evaluation of Henan section of the Yellow River

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Clarifying ecological status and dynamic changes is crucial to ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin. However, due to the limitations of the existing model's solution mechanism, current ecological environment ...

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Ecological interface design for eco-driving [PDF]

open access: yes
Eco-driving issues are of high priority at the moment. Research suggests that a change in driving style can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by around 15% in many cases. In response to this need, the UK Foot-LITE project developed an in-car feedback

Ecological Adaptation Mechanisms Underlying Successful Plant Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During floral induction, various environmental and endogenous signals converge to regulate the florigen protein, which is transported from leaves to the SAM to initiate flowering. Within the SAM, a complex network of receptor kinases and small peptides orchestrates floral development with high spatiotemporal precision.

An information theoretic approach to ecological inference in presence of spatial heterogeneity and dependence [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper introduces Information Theoretic – based methods for estimating a target variable in a set of small geographical areas, by exploring spatially heterogeneous relationships at the disaggregate level.

Current Trends in Ecological Art [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study examines artworks of fifteen current ecological artists and ways in which their work remediates, reclaims, and restores ecologies. Art history reveals an evolution of this art from the onset of Land Art and Environmental Art in the 1960’s to ...

Are trends in species occupancy or an index of biotic integrity more useful for guiding fish conservation planning?

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Numerous ecological indicators are used in environmental assessment, but these indicators often fail to yield the information managers require. There is a need for analyses of how well ecological indicators capture information required for effective ...
