microeco: An R package for data mining in microbial community ecology.

FEMS Microbiology Ecology, 2020
A large amount of sequencing data is produced in microbial community ecology studies using the high-throughput sequencing technique, especially amplicon-sequencing-based community data.

Ecology of Ebolaviruses

Current Opinion in Pharmacology, 2021
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) Africa is becoming known for the emergence and re-emergence of Ebola virus. The virus, which was initially restricted to East and Central Africa, is now emerging in West Africa. Ecological aspects of Ebola virus diseases are poorly understood.

Experimental Ecology (Ecological Geobotany) [PDF]

open access: possible, 1980
Ecology has traditionally been about plants and animals: microbial ecology has been considered as something best left to microbiologists. At some time in their lives, many “macro-ecologists” may wish to find out about microbial ecology, and the book by LYNCH and POOLE (1979) might well be a good starting point.

The Ecology of "Crowding"

The Journal of Parasitology, 2000
There are 2 elements that make ‘‘crowding’’ interesting— mechanism (causality) and manifestation (effect). In our companion paper, Larry Roberts addresses mechanisms. Here, we focus on manifestation. As ecologists, it is difficult to get too excited about Clark Read’s paper on the ‘‘crowding effect’’ in cestodes, at least initially.

THE META‐ANALYSIS OF RESPONSE RATIOS IN EXPERIMENTAL ECOLOGY

, 1999
Meta-analysis provides formal statistical techniques for summarizing the results of independent experiments and is increasingly being used in ecology. The response ratio (the ratio of mean outcome in the experimental group to that in the control group ...

Landscape Ecology: The Effect of Pattern on Process

, 1989
Consideration of spatial dynamics in many areas of ecology has received increased attention during the past decade. For example, the role of disturbance in creating and maintaining a spatial mosaic in the rocky intertidal zone was studied.
