Dynamic Economic Dispatch: Feasible and Optimal Solutions

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 2001
Dynamic economic dispatch is an extension of the conventional economic dispatch problem that takes into consideration the limits on the ramp rate of the generating units. This paper examines the factors that affect the feasibility and optimality of solutions to this problem. It proposes two new solution methods.

On-line secure and economic dispatch

Electric Power Systems Research, 1979
Abstract This paper describes the application of an on-line economic dispatch control program with security constraints including outage-contigency constraints. The program is designed to run on average every 30 s with a small power system and gives feasible solutions with respect to constraints on control variables (real power generation, except in

Economic load dispatch calculator

2014 6th IEEE Power India International Conference (PIICON), 2014
This paper presents a software package tool designed using a MATLAB GUI for solving economic load dispatch problem. This proposed software tool help user to modify the input detail according to the requirements of the power system operation for optimization of generating cost.

Economic Dispatch Reserve Allocation

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1981
In this paper, the economic dispatch problem is reformulated to include a constraint on the maximum average system frequency deviation of a power system following a postulated disturbance. The economic dispatch problem is translated into a well-defined nonlinear mathematical programming problem whose solution is obtained by solving a sequence of linear

Dynamic Economic Dispatch of Generation

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1980
A set of procedures and algorithms are developed for dynamic economic dispatch of generation units. When coupled with a short-term load predictor, "look- ahead" capability is provided by the dynamic economic dispatch that coordinates predicted load changes with the rate-of- response capability of generation units. Dynamic economic dispatch also enables

Real time economic dispatch

PowerCon 2000. 2000 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX409), 2002
This paper presents effective solution strategy to solve the real time economic dispatch problem including the network security constraints such as line flow limits and emission limits using augmented Lagrangian method. It formulates the problem with quadratic objective function and linear constraints goal programming technique is used in the problem ...

Dynamic Economic Dispatch

2017
This chapter provides a solution for dynamic economic dispatch (DED) problem in GAMS. DED refers to dispatch a set of units over a given operating horizon (usually 24 h). The on/off status of units is assumed to be known. Two paradigms of DED are discussed and modeled, namely cost-based DED and price-based DED. Finally, the linearized version of DED is

Economic Load Dispatch

2018
The main objective of the power system is to deliver electric energy to its loads economically and efficiently in a safe and reliable manner. Due to the complicated structure of the present power system network and competitive environment introduced by deregulation, optimal power flow (OPF) and optimal reactive power flow (ORPD) provide efficient ...

Frequency aware economic dispatch

2011 North American Power Symposium, 2011
In this paper we propose a unified economic dispatch and frequency control framework for power systems with an increasing amount of intermittent resources such as wind and solar. While the conventional hierarchies of power system decision and control are based on the time-scale separation principles (e.g., primary, secondary, and tertiary control), the

Economic and environmental power dispatch

European Journal of Operational Research, 1993
Abstract This paper reviews the operational research aspects of power dispatch since their inceptions to the present. The classic single criterion dispatch as well as new multicriteria approaches in dispatching, oriented both toward economy and avoidance of unacceptable environmental impact, are summarized.
