EQUITY, ECONOMIC SCALE, AND THE ROLE OF EXCHANGE IN A SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper explores these theoretical and practical issues, considering the question of the environmental and ecological impacts of economic activity from the viewpoint of the scale at which this activity takes place and the exchanges across time and ...

Economic dynamics with financial fragility and mean-field interaction: a model

open access: yes, 2007
Following the statistical mechanics methodology, firstly introduced in macroeconomics by Aoki [1996,2002], we provide some insights to the well known works of Greenwald and Stiglitz [1990, 1993]. Specifically, we reach analytically a closed form solution

Meniscus Pixel Printing for Contact‐Lens Vision Sensing and Robotic Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visual‐sensing contact lens is enabled by meniscus pixel printing (MPP), which rapidly patterns a 200 µm perovskite photodetector pixel in 1 s without masks, vacuum processing, or bulky equipment. A deep‐learning‐based super‐resolution reconstructs sparse on‐lens signals into 80 × 80 high‐resolution visual information, while AI‐driven eye‐tracking ...

Stylized Facts and Other Empirical Evidence on Firm Dynamics, Business Cycle and Growth [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we bring together in a systematised fashion the scattered empirical evidence relating firm dynamics and both short-run and long-run macroeconomic dynamics.

Studies in the dynamics of economic systems

open access: yesProceedings of 2005 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2005. CCA 2005., 2005
This paper demonstrates the utility of systems and control theory in the analysis of economic systems. Two applications demonstrate how the analysis of simple dynamic models sheds light on important practical problems. The first problem considers the design of a retail laboratory, where the small gain theorem enables the falsification of pricing ...

Dispensing Volumetric Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dispensing volumetric additive manufacturing (DVAM) prints 3D structures inside a photocurable resin droplet suspended from the tip of a glass pipette, enabling sequential printing without resin vats or manual part removal. Real‐time droplet profiling and ray‐tracing‐based correction compensate for optical distortion at the curved resin‐air interface ...

The State and Factors of the Economic Dynamics of Mechanical Engineering Enterprises in Ukraine [PDF]

open access: yesProblemi Ekonomiki, 2017
The economic dynamics of mechanical engineering enterprises in Ukraine is considered. Steady negative trends in the volumes of production and sales of mechanical engineering products are revealed. The analysis of the export capabilities of the mechanical

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

Fractional calculus and continuous-time finance II: the waiting-time distribution

open access: yes, 2000
We complement the theory of tick-by-tick dynamics of financial markets based on a Continuous-Time Random Walk (CTRW) model recently proposed by Scalas et al., and we point out its consistency with the behaviour observed in the waiting-time distribution ...

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.
