Anatomy of Growth and Economic Freedom around the World: A Tale of Two Datasets [PDF]

open access: yesالمجلة العربية للإدارة
From the time of Adam Smith until now, the relationship between freedom or liberalization and economic activities was a question that attracted economists. However, empirical evidence of the existence of this relationship, its direction, and magnitude is

Ultra‐White Elastomeric Coatings for Daytime Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Passive daytime radiative cooling meets elasticity in a new class of ultra‐white silicone coatings. Combining high solar reflectance with strong sky‐window emission, they hold surfaces below ambient temperature under full sunlight while remaining flexible and stretchable. This combination of cooling performance and mechanical flexibility enables energy‐

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

AID, ECONOMIC FREEDOM, AND GROWTH

open access: yesContemporary Economic Policy, 2009
Foreign aid has often been intended by donors to entice recipient nations into policy and institutional reforms favorable to private sector economic development. In this study, we investigate the relationship between aid and changes to economic freedom in recipient nations over the 1990–2000 decade. The evidence is mixed.

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

The Importance of Metal‐Organic Framework Linker Atoms for CO2 Reduction: A DFT Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using DFT, we examine the role of linker atoms in CO2 reduction on copper‐based metal organic frameworks (Cu MOFs). Our calculations reveal that linker atoms may serve as both CO2 and H‐shuttling sites and suggest linker electrostatics as a descriptor for linker activity. ABSTRACT Although the metal within the secondary building unit of a metal‐organic
