Model based measures of contemporaneous economic growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In short term economic reports the use of different growth rate measures is misleading. This paper studies the question of using an unique measure -underlying growth-, which should be smoothed and in phase with the monthly increments of the ...

A Novel Simplified Approach to Physically Simulate Wire‐Arc Directed Energy Deposition Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scarcity of specialized titanium alloy wires and high experimental wire production costs impedes wire‐arc directed energy deposition (waDED) adoption in industry. A novel, wireless approach is introduced to accelerate and economize titanium alloy development.

Religion and Economic Growth [PDF]

open access: yes
Empirical research on the determinants of economic growth has typically neglected the influence of religion. To fill this gap, we use international survey data on religiosity for a broad panel of countries to investigate the effects of church attendance ...

Cobalt Tungstate Characterization Using Matryoshka‐Structure Filter

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The green synthesis of cobalt tungstate (CoWO4) using natural polymerizing agents from agar–agar and commercial produces environmentally friendly materials with tunable structural and electromagnetic properties. X‐ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement correlate crystal structure with microwave transmission losses in Matryoshka‐type filters.

Finance, Institutions and Economic Growth [PDF]

open access: yes
Using data from 72 countries for the period 1978-2000, we find that financial development has larger effects on growth when the financial system is embedded within a sound institutional framework.

Direct Recycling of Cold Work Tool Steel Swarf into New Cutting Disks via Field‐Assisted Sintering

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Through a sintering method known as field‐assisted sintering technology/spark plasma sintering, cold work tool steel swarf can be directly recycled into new cutting disks. This method is capable of densifying the unconventional powder morphology of swarf, and it can also seal grinding contaminants, such as Al2O3, into the steel matrix.

Endogenous Economic Growth through Connectivity [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we show the benefits of regional connectivity and specialization to growth. Starting with one region we show how welfare measured by utility per head increases as the number of connected regions increase.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.
