Impurity Tolerance in LiFePO4 Cathodes: Contrasting Structural, Electronic, and Electrochemical Roles of Residual Ni and Cr

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Impurity tolerance in LiFePO4 cathodes varies strongly with impurity type and content. Low Ni levels are accommodated within the lattice with minimal structural disruption, whereas higher Ni contents introduce antisite disorder. In contrast, Cr impurities segregate from the LiFePO4 framework, blocking lithium‐ion pathways and leading to inferior ...

Lewis‐Acid Engineering with Neodymium Promoters as Synergistic Nd‐Ni Dual Sites for Enhanced Urea Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The integration of rare‐metal neodymium centers to engineer Lewis acid sites with nickel centers is proposed as highly efficient UOR catalysts. ABSTRACT The sluggish kinetics of the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) are strongly associated with the high energy barriers required for the C‐N cleavage and N‐N coupling steps.

Economic load dispatch using θ-PSO

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2013
Abstract This paper presents a θ -particle swarm optimization ( θ -PSO) based algorithm to solve constrained economic load dispatch (ELD) problems of thermal plants. The proposed methodology easily takes care of practical constraints such as transmission losses, ramp rate limits, and prohibited operating zones, and also deals with non-smoothness of ...

A Symmetric Cogeneration Fuel Cell for Coupled Production of Hydrogen, Ammonia and Formate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A symmetric cogeneration fuel cell integrating value‐added chemical synthesis with electricity generation by coupling formaldehyde oxidation with the nitrate reduction was developed. This work highlights the broader potential of symmetric cogeneration fuel cells as a general platform for rational reaction pairing, offering a practical pathway to lower ...

Integration of Economic Load Dispatch with Wind Penetration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, 2019
Wind energy is a form of inexhaustible energy that can be utilized deprived the use of fuel to produce energy and can save the fuel expenses of the electricity system. With rising oil rates and environmental contamination, it has now become clear that wind energy should be deemed a useful solution to the production of thermal energy.

Efficient Direct Recycling of Spent Batteries: Integrated Lithiation and Delamination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated process for the delamination and relithiation of spent cathodes, LixNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 and LixFePO4, under open‐air conditions is proposed. The transition‐metal (Ni) oxidation state in the cathode is reduced by the oxidation of diethylene glycol, facilitating relithiation. Glycol aldehyde formation induces 100% electrode delamination.

Beyond d‐Band Catalysis: A Critical Review and Descriptor Framework for Rare‐Earth Engineering in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rare‐earth catalysts regulate lithium–sulfur battery chemistry through f‐orbital–mediated interactions, enabling simultaneous polysulfide adsorption and catalytic conversion on conductive carbon hosts. This synergistic control suppresses the shuttle effect, accelerates redox kinetics, and guides stable Li2S nucleation, providing a mechanistic framework

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses

Solving unit commitment and economic load dispatch problems using modern optimization algorithms

open access: yes, 2017
Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) and Unit Commitment (UC) are very important applications to predict the optimized cost of load in a power system. UC determines working states for existing generating units under some operational constraints and then ...
