Incorporating Pest Survivorship into Economic Thresholds
Bulletin of the Entomological Society of America, 1987Economic thresholds are frequently derived by assuming 100% survivorship of injurious life stages. Consequently, these thresholds ignore the importance of natural mortality agents to pest management. Savings can be generated for crop producers if reliable estimates of natural mortality can be incorporated into control decisions.

Uncertainty and the Economic Threshold
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1986Economic threshold, also called optimizing threshold, has been defined by economists to be the level of pest infestation that warrants an application of pesticide when the pesticide application rate is computed to maximize the grower’s profit. As often used in practice, however, economic threshold is assumed to be the level of pest infestation at which

Launch Cost Thresholds for Economic Activity
New Space, 2018Abstract The examination of the effects of launch cost on the economic viability of space enterprises is necessary both for evaluations of the merits of the enterprises themselves and as a guide to future launch vehicle development. Investigation of the viability of various commercial space enterprises shows that telecommunications ...

ECONOMIC THRESHOLDS: AN APPLICATION TO FLORICULTURE
2000This paper introduces conjunctive optimal pest management and production decision rules applied to the floriculture industry. A grower is faced with optimally controlling multiple pests and applying cultural controls to maximize the expected net present value of benefits within a discrete time framework, subject to biological and marketing constraints.

Ecological Economics, 2013
Abstract This paper investigates ecological threshold and ecological economic threshold by developing an ecological economic model—an extension of a population–resource dynamics model developed by Brander and Taylor (1998) . The model reflects three critical issues regarding an ecological economic system: system boundary, non-convexity, and ...

Non-smooth plant disease models with economic thresholds
Mathematical Biosciences, 2013In order to control plant diseases and eventually maintain the number of infected plants below an economic threshold, a specific management strategy called the threshold policy is proposed, resulting in Filippov systems. These are a class of piecewise smooth systems of differential equations with a discontinuous right-hand side. The aim of this work is

Optimal pest management and economic threshold
Agricultural Systems, 1995Abstract The paper deals with optimal pest management using the chemical control method. Basically, the concept of Headley's and Hall and Norgaard's ‘economic threshold’ in pest control is generalized by using an optimal control theorem. The paper provides an optimal control rule which can be used to determine the optimal spray dosages of pesticides ...

THRESHOLDS IN FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
The Manchester School, 1995The purpose of this paper is to assess the existence of threshold effects in economic growth, linked to the development of the banking sector. We, first, discuss the possibility of multiple steady state equilibria doe to reciprocal externalities between the banking sector and the real sector. To check the existence of multiple steady states, associated
