Estimation of Cruising Air Speeds for Economic Analysis
The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1949In the course of investigation into the operating economics of transport aircraft, the cruising speed arises as a fundamental variable and a rapid method of correction of speed for variation of power, height and weight is frequently required. Other problems present themselves, such as the estimate of cruising speeds in the course of a new type design ...

Applied Energy, 1984
Abstract The seasonal performances, accounting for steady state conditions and on/off cycling losses, of a conventional fixed speed, a two speed, and a variable speed vapour compression heat pump have been determined for the annual heating demand of a large detached house.

MONETARY POLICY AND ECONOMIC STABILITY SPEED AND SCALE OF ACTION*
The Journal of Finance, 1959THE POSTWAR RENAISSANCE of central bank policy reflects the enduring significance of the monetary equation for the economy as a whole. Although the accumulated evidence indicates that central banking has not eliminated economic fluctuations, optimum usage has rarely, if ever, occurred and perhaps has not even been described.

An economic theory of the distribution of traffic speeds
Journal of Urban Economics, 1984Abstract A Cournot-Nash equilibrium model of the distribution of speeds in vehicular traffic is presented. The analysis reveals the possibilities of Pareto-optimal speed limit regulation, of gasoline as a Giffen, but not necessarily an inferior good, and of multiple traffic-flow maximums with respect to density.
