Enhancing the Mechanical Properties of Inherently Brittle, Biobased and Biodegradable Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) Polymer by Cotton Fibre Reinforcement and Interfacial Grafting

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study enhances biobassed, biodegradable polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB)s strength and ductility by reinforcing it with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)‐coated cotton fibres and further improving interfacial bonding through maleic anhydride (MA) grafting. In addition to mechanical performance, the approaches significantly improve the gas barrier properties of the

Agglomeration economies in the Netherlands [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we measure the strength of agglomeration economies on the basis of Dutch regional data. The drift to the city has been going on for hundreds of years. As a result, most economic activity is concentrated in small geographical areas.

Inherited Nitrogen Distribution Control in Covalent Organic Framework Cathodes for Efficient Electrochemical Lithium Recovery via Capacitive Deionization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a rational design of hetero‐atom distribution within 2D‐COFs for selective electrochemical lithium extraction through capacitive deionization. The COF's high surface area and charge density facilitate effective lithium‐ion capture, offering a scalable and sustainable approach for lithium recovery from complex brine solutions ...

The Importance of Increasing Returns to Scale in the Process of Agglomeration in Portugal: A Non-linear Empirical Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
With this work we try to analyse the agglomeration process in the Portuguese regions, using the New Economic Geography models. In these models the base idea is that where has increasing returns to scale in the manufactured industry and low transport costs, there is agglomeration. Of referring, as summary conclusion, that with this work the existence of

Superior‐Selective and Complete Recycling of Trace Precious Metals From Wastewater by Magnetic Trilayer Carbon‐Aerogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carbon aerogels embedded with magnetic Fe@FeS@C nanoparticles are fabricated to achieve a rapid and ultra‐highly selective recovery of the precious metals Abstract It is a considerable challenge to selectively recycle precious metals from industrial wastewater and natural waters.

Agglomeration economies and entrepreneurship: testing for spatial externalities in the Dutch ICT industry [PDF]

open access: yes
Although there is growing evidence on the role of agglomeration economies in the formation and growth of firms, both the concepts of agglomeration economies and entrepreneurship tend to be ambiguously defined and measured in the literature. In this study,

Is there an agglomeration economy in Eastern Russia?

open access: yesArea Development and Policy
This analysis disproves the widespread opinion that, in Eastern Russia, where the settlement structure and transport network are less dense, agglomeration effects are either absent or negligible. Econometric estimates have revealed a significant contribution of agglomeration economies to the efficiency of companies mainly in the southern regions ...

Enhancement of Optical Transparency and Electrical Conductivity of IZO/Ag/IZO Multilayer Film by Intense Pulsed Light and its Effect on the Photovoltaic Performances of Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The highly conductive IZO/Ag/IZO multilayer transparent electrode is successfully fabricated through flashlight annealing (FLA) process. A transient thermal effect of FLA maintains the continuous Ag interlayer and improves the crystallinity of the sandwich IZO layers. This combination increases both electric conductivity and optical transmittance.
