On the Ubiquitous Nature of the Agglomeration Economies and their Diverse Determinants: Some Notes. [PDF]

open access: yes
This highly preliminary work attempts to study the multiple drivers of agglomeration phenomena in contemporary economies. First, we propose a tentative taxonomy of agglomeration drivers in which the conditions of knowledge accumulation play a paramount ...

Impact of Extrusion and Direct Calendering on Dry‐Coated Cathodes for Sulfidic All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a parameter optimization for a scalable dry coating process of sulfidic ASSB cathodes (82 wt% CAM, 0.5 wt% PTFE binder) in dry room atmosphere. High‐shear extruder mixing and calendering are used to form a cathode film based on PTFE fibrillation.

Agglomeration, accessibility and industrial location: evidence from spanish municipalities [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper deals with the location decisions of manufacturing firms in Spain. We analyse how agglomeration economies and transport accessibility influence the location decisions of firms at municipality level and in three industries.

Synergies in Agricultural Biodiversity Conservation: Decomposing the Interaction Between Nature Parks and Agri‐Environment Schemes

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding how policy instruments with overlapping goals interact is crucial for leveraging their synergies. This study explores the mechanisms for regional nature parks (a form of protected areas that impose no restrictions on agriculture) to enhance the adoption of biodiversity‐conserving agri‐environment schemes (AES) in Switzerland ...

2D Nanomaterials for Solar Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This review gives comprehensively summarized latest advances on solar H2 production by various 2D nanomaterials using photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic H2 production methods, especially highlighting the photocatalytic one. After the summary, an outlook into the challenges and the future of 2D nanomaterials for solar H2 production is given.

Division of labor and agglomeration economies

open access: yes, 1992
We were able to conclude that geographical concentration (the smithian «extent of the market») limits both the degree of specialization of productive tasks and the degree of autonomous firm formation by vertical disintegration. On the other hand, the institutional framework of production matters: the less capital (human and physical) is saved by the ...

Eco‐Efficient Processing and Refining Routes for Secondary Raw Materials from Silicon Ingot and Wafer Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
The ICARUS project developed pilot‐scale processes to recover and refine secondary raw materials from silicon photovoltaic (PV) ingot and wafer manufacturing waste. Silicon kerf, graphite, and silica residues are purified into high‐value inputs for the PV value chain and beyond.
