Structured, Shaped, or Printed Single‐Atom Catalysts and Their Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper reviews the design and use of structured single‐atom catalysts, which integrate porous architectures with the exceptional reactivity of isolated catalytic sites. It explores fabrication strategies, advanced characterization methods, and support materials that enhance thermal stability, mechanical robustness, and operational efficiency of ...

Production externalities and dispersion process in a multi-region economy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We consider an economic geography model with two inter-regional proximity structures: one governing goods trade and the other governing production externalities across regions. We investigate how the introduction of the latter affects the timing of endogenous agglomeration and the spatial distribution of workers across regions.

Agglomeration economies and urban productivity

open access: yesREGION, 2019
This study explores the relationship between agglomeration economies and industrial productivity between 1980 and 2010 in Ecuador. The measure of productivity used is labour productivity.

f‐p‐d Gradient Orbital Coupling Induced Spin State Enhancement of Atomic Fe Sites for Efficient and Stable Oxygen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The f‐p‐d (Eu─O─Fe) gradient orbital coupling induces electron delocalization and the introduced f‐band of Eu shifts the spin state of the Fe center in FePc from low‐spin to intermediate‐spin. This strategy simultaneously enhances oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity, reaction kinetics, and stability, resulting in superior ORR performance and ...

Sono‐Piezo‐Photosynthesis of Ethylene and Acetylene from Bioethanol under Ambient Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel sono‐piezo‐photocatalytic strategy enables the conversion of bioethanol to ethylene (C2H4) and acetylene (C2H2) under ambient conditions, addressing the limitations of conventional methods that are high‐temperature and energy‐intensive. By using an advanced graphene oxide/sodium bismuth titanate heterostructure catalyst, this work achieved ...

Cluster-induced deagglomeration in dilute gravity-driven gas-solid flows of cohesive grains [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 121, 238001 (2018), 2018
Clustering is often presumed to lead to enhanced agglomeration between cohesive grains due to the reduced relative velocities of particles within a cluster. Our discrete-particle simulations on gravity-driven, gas-solid flows of cohesive grains exhibit the opposite trend, revealing a new mechanism we coin "cluster-induced deagglomeration." Specifically,

Using Recycled Materials in a Novel Dual Binder System for Hard Carbon Anodes: Closing the Loop Toward Sustainable Li‐/Na‐ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study explores for the first time the use of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), particularly recycled PVB, as a sustainable binder for Li/Na‐based electrodes in the framework of the H2020 SUNRISE EU project. Findings revealed that electrodes bound with a sustainable PAA/PVB mixture demonstrated exceptional rate capability and high initial Coulombic ...

Spatial clustering of knowledge-based industries in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area

open access: yesRegional Studies, Regional Science, 2016
The central locations of metropolitan areas have some specific attributes, leading to an accumulation of large knowledge exchanges and extensive knowledge externalities, which encourage the concentration of various economic activities, especially ...

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Planning for agglomeration economies in a polycentric region: Envisioning an efficient metropolitan core area in Flanders

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Spatial Development, 2018
To some degree, metropolitan regions owe their existence to the ability to valorize agglomeration economies. The general perception is that agglomeration economies increase with city size, which is why economists tend to propagate urbanization, in this ...
