A framework for the resilience of seagrass ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yesMarine Pollution Bulletin, 2015
Seagrass ecosystems represent a global marine resource that is declining across its range. To halt degradation and promote recovery over large scales, management requires a radical change in emphasis and application that seeks to enhance seagrass ecosystem resilience.

Spatial Interactions and Resilience in Arid Ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Naturalist, 2004
We present a mathematical analysis of the consequences of spatial interactions between vegetation patches by means of water flow for the functioning of arid systems. Our model results suggest that spatial exchange of water improved the resilience to disturbances and increased the resistance to human-induced loss of cover.

The Influence of Cone Age and Urbanisation on the Diversity and Community Composition of Culturable Seed Fungal Endophytes within Native Australian Banksia ericifolia L.f. subsp. ericifolia

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2023
Seed fungal endophytes play a crucial role in assisting the overall health and success of their host plant; however, little is known about the factors that influence the diversity and composition of these endophytes, particularly with respect to how they

Grazing Away the Resilience of Patterned Ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Naturalist, 2019
Ecosystems' responses to changing environmental conditions can be modulated by spatial self-organization. A prominent example of this can be found in drylands, where formation of vegetation patterns attenuates the magnitude of degradation events in response to decreasing rainfall. In model studies, the pattern wavelength responds to changing conditions,

Can we be both resilient and well, and what choices do people have? Incorporating agency into the resilience debate from a fisheries perspective. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In the midst of a global fisheries crisis, there has been great interest in the fostering of adaptation and resilience in fisheries, as a means to reduce vulnerability and improve the capacity of fishing society to adapt to change.

Resilience and regime shifts: Assessing cascading effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Most accounts of thresholds between alternate regimes involve a single, dominant shift defined by one, often slowly changing variable in an ecosystem.

Collating existing evidence on cumulative impacts of invasive plant species in riparian ecosystems of British Columbia, Canada: a systematic map protocol

open access: yesEnvironmental Evidence, 2023
Background Globally, the structure and functioning of foreshore and riparian ecosystems are being dramatically impacted by non-native invasive plant species.

Resilience of the Internet Interconnection Ecosystem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In 2010 the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) launched a study to investigate the resilience of the Internet’s interconnection system and come up with policy recommendations. A large number of stakeholders were contacted, and their expertise has been reflected in the study.

How SMEs Performance Drives the Exportation Ecosystem Resilience

open access: yes, 2023
: Exportation ecosystems are highly complex and can collapse when subjected to local and global disruptions. Similarly, unsuitable topology structures (network structures) and performance of SME sector can affect the growth of economic resilience.

Coral distribution and diversity in Sakiyamawan–Amitoriwan nature conservation area of Iriomote Island in Japan

open access: yesGeoscience Letters, 2023
Sakiyama and Amitori bays of Iriomote Island in Japan are adjacent, but their coral distributions differ significantly. This study investigates the differences in the coral distribution and diversity between both bays from the diversity index and ...
