In Vivo Microplastic Detection With Photoacoustic Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microplastics are posing an escalating threat to both ecological systems and human health. Yet, current methods for investigating their bioaccumulation are highly invasive, requiring destructive analysis of ex vivo tissues via mass spectrometry, dye labelling, or Raman microspectroscopy.

Full‐Body AI Agent: A Perspective on Multi‐Scale Collaborative AI for Systemic Biology and Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose the Full‐Body AI Agent, a multi‐scale collaborative framework with 7 biological‐layer agents. It unifies multi‐omics/clinical data via standardized protocols, enabling phenotype‐guided closed‐loop reasoning, quantitative evaluation, and LLM safeguards, with promising applications in tumor metastasis modeling and precision drug development ...

How plant composition in margins influences the assemblage of pests and predators and its effect on biocontrol in melon fields

open access: yesScientific Reports
Many agricultural landscapes offer few resources for maintaining natural enemy populations and floral plantings have frequently been adopted to enhance biological pest control in crops. However, restored margins may harbour both pests and natural enemies.

Attribution of net carbon change by disturbance type across forest lands of the conterminous United States

open access: yesCarbon Balance and Management, 2016
Background Locating terrestrial sources and sinks of carbon (C) will be critical to developing strategies that contribute to the climate change mitigation goals of the Paris Agreement.

Optimizing Service Ecosystems in the Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A service ecosystem is a virtual space ideally distributed across networks and geographical areas where vast numbers of services and other digital entities can coexist and converge to form ad-hoc solutions. In this paper we present experimental results showing the performance of two optimization models in service ecosystem.

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

Linkages between biodiversity attributes and ecosystem services: a systematic review

open access: yes, 2014
A systematic literature review was undertaken to analyse the linkages between different biodiversity attributes and 11 ecosystem services. The majority of relationships between attributes and ecosystem services cited in the 530 studies were positive. For
