Improved Runtime Bounds for the Univariate Marginal Distribution Algorithm via Anti-Concentration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Unlike traditional evolutionary algorithms which produce offspring via genetic operators, Estimation of Distribution Algorithms (EDAs) sample solutions from probabilistic models which are learned from selected individuals.

An Improved EDAS Method Based on Bipolar Neutrosophic Set and Its Application in Group Decision-Making

open access: yesApplied Computational Intelligence and Soft Computing, 2021
The bipolar neutrosophic set is a suitable instrument to tackle the information with vagueness, complexity, and uncertainty. In this study, we improved the original EDAS (the evaluation based on distance from average solution) with bipolar neutrosophic ...

Determining the Most Suitable Bus Model for the Urban Transportation Sector: A Hybrid Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach [PDF]

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems
One of the key service elements of travel companies operating in the road transportation sector are passenger buses. Deciding to purchase a new bus requires managers to consider various aspects, complicating the decision-making process.

Evolutionary Approaches to Optimization Problems in Chimera Topologies

open access: yes, 2016
Chimera graphs define the topology of one of the first commercially available quantum computers. A variety of optimization problems have been mapped to this topology to evaluate the behavior of quantum enhanced optimization heuristics in relation to ...

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Denoising Autoencoders for fast Combinatorial Black Box Optimization

open access: yes, 2015
Estimation of Distribution Algorithms (EDAs) require flexible probability models that can be efficiently learned and sampled. Autoencoders (AE) are generative stochastic networks with these desired properties.

In‐Situ Solution Complexation for n‐Type Surface‐Energetics Reconstruction in 2.0 eV Ultra‐Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive in situ solution complexation strategy reconstructs the surface of 2.0 eV ultra‐wide‐bandgap perovskites via proton transfer. This chemical modulation eliminates metallic defects and induces a degenerate‐like n‐type surface, establishing an Ohmic tunneling contact.
