Effects of endocrine-disrupting chemical exposure on zebrafish ovarian follicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The process of oocyte maturation involves both nuclear and cytoplasmic events that are essential for the production of viable eggs and subsequent fertilization in sexually reproducing animals.

Use of Water-soluble Carbodiimide (EDC) for Immobilization of EDC-sensitive Dextranase

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1989
Water-soluble carbodiimide [EDC: (1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide)] is a useful reagent for chemical modification of carboxyl group of various proteins. Model experiments to establish detailed conditions for the cross-linking reaction with EDC were conducted.

Pollution Characteristics and Health Risk Assessment of Typical Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in the Groundwater of the Shenyang Section of the Liaohe River Basin

open access: yesYankuang ceshi
Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in groundwater may pose potential threats to the ecosystem and human health, especially through the drinking water pathway.

The Relationship between Typical Environmental Endocrine Disruptors and Kidney Disease

open access: yesToxics, 2022
Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are exogenous substances that alter the endocrine function of an organism, to result in adverse effects on growth and development, metabolism, and reproductive function. The kidney is one of the most important organs

The coherent {\it d}-wave superconducting gap in underdoped La$_{2-x}$Sr$_{x}$CuO$_4$ as studied by angle-resolved photoemission

open access: yes, 2008
We present angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) data on moderately underdoped La$_{1.855}$Sr$_{0.145}$CuO$_4$ at temperatures below and above the superconducting transition temperature.

Exposure to endocrine disruptors and alterations in mineralized tissues: A Narrative Review.

open access: yesJournal of Oral Research, 2022
Background: Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) would cause alterations in organs/systems of exposed individuals or their progeny. Objetive: To identify and analyze the main published findings on the effects of exposure to EDCs on teeth, cartilage ...

Superconductivity in an electron band just above the Fermi level: possible route to BCS-BEC superconductivity

open access: yes, 2014
Conventional superconductivity follows Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer(BCS) theory of electrons-pairing in momentum-space, while superfluidity is the Bose-Einstein condensation(BEC) of atoms paired in real-space. These properties of solid metals and ultra-cold

Evidence of reduced surface electron-phonon scattering in the conduction band of Bi_{2}Se_{3} by non-equilibrium ARPES

open access: yes, 2013
The nature of the Dirac quasiparticles in topological insulators calls for a direct investigation of the electron-phonon scattering at the \emph{surface}.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
