Induction of iron regulated proteins during normal growth of Neisseria meningitidis in a chemically defined medium Indução das proteínas reguladas pelo ferro durante o crescimento normal de Neisseria meningitidis em meio quimicamente definido

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 1994
The expression of iron regulated proteins (IRPs) in vitro has been obtained in the past by adding iron chelators to the culture after bacterial growth, in the presence of an organic iron source.

Deterministic Fiber‐Optic Spectral Engineering Enables Three‐Color Multiplexed Two‐Photon Microscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A simulation‐guided spectral‐engineering framework maps the nonlinear parameter space of a fiber laser platform to identify balanced three‐band excitation states. The resulting 960, 1080, and 1175 nm femtosecond pulses deliver nJ‐level energies for low‐cross‐talk chromatically multiplexed two‐photon microscopy.

The importance of wild meat and freshwater fish for children's nutritional intake in the Congo Basin

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Wild meat and freshwater fish are widely consumed in the Congo Basin, but in some areas, they are at risk of disappearing due to unsustainable hunting and fishing and changes in their habitat. Preterm Children in Iceland: Neonatal Morbidities and Motor Development in the First Two Years, and Later Disability Diagnosis

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Icelandic data on outcomes after preterm birth are limited. The aim was to describe neonatal morbidities, motor development up to 24 months, and examine whether morbidities predicted disability. Method It was a retrospective cohort study of 318 children born < 32 weeks of gestation and/or weighing < 1 000 g, who were followed at the ...

Production Gaps Among Farmers With Disabilities Are Associated With Limited Technology

open access: yesAgricultural Economics, Volume 57, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT In sub‐Saharan Africa, agriculture is vital; however, the systematic exclusion of persons with disabilities from farming hinders sustainable development and social equity. Although several studies have analyzed productivity differentials across various dimensions of social exclusion, empirical evidence on technology access, farming efficiency,

Chemical Composition, Amino Acids, Phenolic Profiles and Bioavailability of Minerals in Livingstone Potato (Plectranthus esculentus) as Affected by Different Processing Techniques

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 186-199, June 2026.
Boiling retained the nutrients and polyphenol compounds in Plectranthus esculentus tubers better than frying or roasting. A bioavailability study showed that the phytates and oxalates in the tuber may not affect the bioavailabilities of calcium, zinc, or iron in Plectranthus esculentus tubers when eaten.
