Eddy-current losses in reactor flux shields
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1970The magnetic-field distribution is analysed for the case of an aluminium plate excited by a circular current loop, and an expression for the eddy-current loss in the plate is deduced. This analysis is tested by comparison with measurements on a model which closely resembles the theoretical geometry, and the results are shown to be in close agreement. A

Eddy current losses in saturable magnetic materials
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1994In this paper, a finite element method, based on a variational formulation, is used to evaluate eddy current losses inside a nonlinear, saturable ferromagnetic material, for a two dimensional field problem. Boundary conditions are imposed in an integral form combined with Neumann conditions.

Eddy current losses in laminated transformer cores
3D Africon Conference. Africon '92 Proceedings (Cat. No.92CH3215), 2003A finite element method, based on the variational principle, for two-dimensional field configurations is used to evaluate eddy current losses in a sheet of a laminated transformer core assumed to be a linear homogeneous conducting medium. Boundary conditions are imposed in an integral form combined with Neumann conditions.

Eddy current losses in passive magnetic bearings
Journal of Applied Physics, 2002Passive magnetic bearings built with permanent magnets, such as NdFeB (neodynium–iron–boron) or SmCo (samarium–cobalt), are very reliable systems when used for industrial applications such as centrifuges or flywheels, as they do not require any electromagnetic coil supply. Nevertheless, during the rotational motion, gyroscopic effects (like precession)

Eddy current losses in open-type cores
2022• Purpose: The aim of this paper is to present a methodology for calculating eddy current losses in the core of a single-phase power voltage transformer, which, unlike a standard power transformer, has an open-type core (I-type core). In those apparatus, reduction of core losses is achieved by using a multi-part open-type core that is created by ...

Eddy-current losses in thin ferromagnetic sheets
Proceedings of the IEE Part C: Monographs, 1958In very weak fields, the eddy-current losses in a lamination may be calculated exactly but the observed loss is always somewhat greater. Most of this extra loss varies with frequency and field in the same way as eddy-current loss, and if a quantity η equal to the ratio of the observed to calculated loss is defined it is found that it increases rapidly ...

Eddy current losses of permanent magnet motors
IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 1994A simple and effective method for calculating the core eddy current losses in permanent magnet motors is presented. It uses the back EMF per tooth induced in the stator windings by the rotation of the permanent magnets. The eddy current losses of the stator yoke can also be evaluated as a function of the back EMF per tooth waveform.
