Eddy-current power loss in laminated iron cores
ISCAS 2001. The 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat. No.01CH37196), 2002This paper presents an analysis of power losses in gapless laminated iron cores at high frequencies. First, the magnetic field intensity is found. Next, the eddy current density is determined. Finally, expressions for the power loss density and the power loss per unit volume of an iron core are derived.

An analytical approximation is presented. The proposed solution considers the wire diameter, the number of layers and wires in parallel, the distance from a possible air gap, the horizontal and vertical copper filling factors.
