Pulsed Eddy-Current Nondestructive Testing of Ferromagnetic Tubes

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2004
In sinusoidal eddy current nondestructive testing (NDT) of thick ferromagnetic tubes, wall thickness is measured with the coils displaced for 2-3 tube diameters (remote field eddy current technique). The tube inner diameter is measured at higher frequency with another pair of coils displaced for around 1 tube diameter (electrical caliper).

The Pulsed Eddy Current Testing

2016
As one kind of eddy current testing technology, the pulsed eddy current testing technology is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction and is used to detect the defects in conductive materials. The principle of pulsed eddy current testing is basically the same as that of traditional eddy current testing, and differences are the means of ...

Recent Developments in Eddy Current Testing

1985
From the point of material fatigue and corrosion the objective and quantitative inspection of surfaces and near-surface zones in metallic components by NDT methods are of interest. Eddy-current methods in particular are suitable to solve this inspection problem.

The Remote-Field Eddy Current Testing

2016
The remote-field eddy current (RFEC) testing is a special eddy current testing technology that utilizes the characteristics of the remote-field region of the eddy current to detect the defects and was applied in the inner inspection of small caliber pipeline first.

Pulsed eddy current nondestructive testing

2003
There is an intensive research of pulsed eddy current as a new nondestruc-tive technique. Broadband nature of pulsed excitation potentially enables ex-traction of more information about tested object in a single measurement. Furthermore, lower power consumption of the measurement probe and shorter inspection time can be achieved comparing to the ...

High resolution eddy current inspection and eddy current testing for additive manufacturing

2016
Non-destructive testing (NDT) is one of the key method developed for the safety mechanism of many industrial fields, e.g. aerospace, oil and gas and power industries. Among the NDT techniques, eddy current testing belongs to the well-established ones and has been used since the 1940s.
