Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Construct Coil Probe Using GMR Sensor for Eddy Current Testing

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Eddy current testing is a widely applied non-destructive technique in different sections of industries. Nowadays eddy current testing is an accurate, widely used and well-understood inspection technique, particularly in the aircraft and nuclear ...

Numerical study of eddy current by Finite Element Method for cracks detection in structures [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2017
In this paper, we try to use the finite element method of 2-D axisymmetry to solve problems in eddy current testing problems where the main idea is detecting crack's shape using the NDT-EC.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Simple Giant Magnetoresistance Probe Based Eddy Current System of Defect Characterization for Non-Destructive Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2022
The purpose of this paper is to present a new giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor, in eddy current testing technique for surface defect detection, in conducting materials, we show that the GMR based eddy currents probe is more sensitive than the ...

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

Eddy current testing probe optimization using a parallel genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2008
This paper uses the developed parallel version of Michalewicz's Genocop III Genetic Algorithm (GA) searching technique to optimize the coil geometry of an eddy current non-destructive testing probe (ECTP). The electromagnetic field is computed using FEMM

Plasma EV Proteomics Identifies ECM Remodeling and Inflammatory Proteins LUM and C7 as Candidate Biomarkers in FSHD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

Evaluation of An Eddy-Current Tape-Head Probe

open access: yes, 1984
SRI International is performing basic evaluation and characterization of eddy-current probes that are fabricated using ferrite tape-head technology. Tests conducted during the previous two years using both absolute and differential probes, frequencies of 100 kHz and 1 MHz, and flat-plate samples made of aluminum and titanium demonstrated that such ...
