Gastric Distension Index: A Novel Radiographic Marker Associated With Postoperative Gastric Stasis After Gastrectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study introduces the Hiki Index (HI), a novel radiographic metric based on upright abdominal X‐rays, to objectively assess postoperative gastric dilatation after gastrectomy. The HI demonstrated strong predictive value for gastrointestinal symptoms and the need for therapeutic intervention, offering a practical tool for early detection and ...

Impact of Circular Stapler Size on Short‐Term Outcomes and Long‐Term Quality of Life After McKeown Esophagectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigated the impact of circular stapler size on both short‐term outcomes and long‐term QOL after McKeown esophagectomy. We revealed that short‐term outcomes, including anastomotic leakage and stenosis, did not differ between patients who underwent anastomosis with a 21 mm stapler and those with a 23 mm stapler.

RefineCatDiff: Toward High‐Quality Medical Image Segmentation via a Categorical Diffusion Refinement Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes RefineCatDiff, a refinement framework for high‐quality medical image segmentation. By developing a categorical distribution‐based discrete diffusion process for refinement, the framework aligns well with the characteristics of image segmentation tasks. Experimental results on multiple datasets across different modalities demonstrate

Leveraging Compressed Sensing and Radiomics for Robust Feature Selection for Outcome Prediction in Personalized Ultra‐Fractionated Stereotactic Adaptive Radiotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A compressed sensing (CS)‐based feature selection method is proposed to select the most informative elements in the radiomic features extracted from medical images of personalized ultra‐fractionated stereotactic adaptive treatment. The CS‐based approach is able to simplify the feature selection process and enhance the accuracy and robustness of a ...
