A classification of the edentulous jaws
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1988A classification of the edentulous jaws has been developed based on a randomised cross-sectional study from a sample of 300 dried skulls. It was noted that whilst the shape of the basalar process of the mandible and maxilla remains relatively stable, changes in shape of the alveolar process is highly significant in both the vertical and horizontal axes.

Recording Edentulous Jaw Relationships
Dental Clinics of North America, 1977An attempt has been made to present a practical method of transferring interocclusal records to an articulator. RECORDING JAW RELATIONSHIPS IN EDENTULOUS PATIENTS
Dental Clinics of North America, 1996The use of a facebow transfer is an important first step in making jaw relation records. Equally important is to make a careful study of the patient's existing dentures. This article suggests a technique that permits an accurate measurement of the patient's inter-ridge distance.

Digital intraoral scanning technique for edentulous jaws
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2018Few studies have evaluated direct digital scans of edentulous jaws using intraoral scanners because it is difficult to scan edentulous sites that are smooth and devoid of features. A scanning technique is introduced for making direct digital scans of edentulous jaws with intraoral scanners in patients with a broad palate.

Complications of grafting in the atrophic edentulous or partially edentulous jaw.
The International journal of periodontics & restorative dentistry, 2002Complications of ridge reconstruction can delay healing or even cause total failure of the procedure, making implant placement impossible. Most intraoperative complications, such as insufficient material for a graft or inadequate range of a soft tissue flap, are the result of poor treatment planning or execution.

Jaw records for the edentulous patient made easier
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 19937. Rinse the casting in distilled or deionized water and shake off the excess water. 8. Place the casting in 3 % hydrogen peroxide (HzOz) for 60 to 90 seconds. This will produce a light gray color (t,in oxide) after drying. 9. Rinse again in distilled or deionized water. 10. Dry with oil-free air or allow to bench dry for 5 minutes.
