A Multiphase and Multicomponent Model Considering Molecular Diffusion for Simulating Shale Oil Reservoirs With Complex Fracture Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Molecular diffusion is a critical mechanism of enhance oil recovery (EOR) in developing shale oil reservoir by huff “n” puff. The ultra‐low permeability lead to the accumulation of injected gas within the complex fracture networks (CFNs), thereby, enhancing concentration gradient and mass transfer by molecular diffusion between the CFNs and matrix.

An Analytical Formulation for Correcting the Relative Permeability of Gas‐Water Flow in Propped Fractures Considering the Effect of Brinkman Flow

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 60, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Gas‐water flow in propped fractures can be commonly observed in various practical applications, including hydrocarbon development, geothermal exploitation, contaminant transport, and geological carbon storage. The fluid flow in a propped fracture can be regarded as Darcy type if only the resistance from the propping materials (e.g., cement in ...

Beyond resilience: Responses to changing climate and disturbance regimes in temperate forest landscapes across the Northern Hemisphere

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2024.
Are forests that experienced frequent disturbances in the past better adapted to changing climate and disturbance regimes, or are they prone to lose resilience in the future? We found that landscapes with historically high disturbance activity were more resilient to climate change.

Effective Characterization of Fractured Media With PEDL: A Deep Learning‐Based Data Assimilation Approach

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 60, Issue 7, July 2024.
Abstract Geological formations with fractures are frequently encountered in various research fields. Accurately characterizing these fractured media is of paramount importance when it comes to tasks that demand precise predictions of liquid flow and solute transport within them.

Consistent treatment of shear failure in embedded discrete fracture models using XFVM

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 951-973, March 2024.
Abstract Understanding deformations and fluid flow in fractured rocks is of central importance for many subsurface flow applications. Thus, numerical frameworks are needed that capture the coupled mechanical and hydraulic behaviour, including scenarios with complex fracture networks.

Antiacne Gel Containing Aloe vera and Clindamycin Phosphate: Design, Characterization, and Optimization Using Response Surface Methodology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Clindamycin phosphate is a topical antibiotic agent used to treat acne vulgaris, while Aloe vera has both antimicrobial and anti‐inflammatory properties. The current study is aimed at formulating an antiacne gel with antioxidant and antimicrobial effects. The antiacne gels were prepared by using polymer HPMC K15M by cold dispersion method.

Macroscale Gas–Water Two‐Phase Transport Simulation in Shales considering Nanomicroscale Effects

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
As an effective approach to evaluate shale gas production, macroscale numerical simulations have been conducted; however, multiscale storage space and complex gas–water two‐phase transport mechanisms are not systematically considered. To deal with this, a rigorous cross‐scale gas–water two‐phase transport simulation method that considers the pore, core,
