Cutting-edge Visual Effects

2016
Coding creative designs has always been difficult using CSS alone. Until recently, the language itself has been quite restrictive in terms of the visual effects you can use. Re-creating the visual effects from graphics editing packages like Photoshop was difficult, if not impossible, and regularly required nasty hacks.

EDGE EFFECTS IN GEOMORPHOLOGY

Physical Geography, 1999
Edge effects in geomorphology produce features or processes along the boundaries between landscape elements, which are distinctly different from those of the adjacent elements. These effects are unique to the edge environment, as opposed to simply being transitional in nature.

The gravitational edge effect

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1975
The knowledge that a gravity anomaly is due to an edge effect is sufficient to resolve the inherent ambiguity of the inverse potential problem. Thus given the gravity field across the contact between two laterally uniform structures, the density difference between the adjacent sections can be calculated by means of integral transforms operating on the ...

Predication and edge effects

Natural Language & Linguistic Theory, 2011
This paper investigates the properties of syntactic edges, with special attention being paid to two central issues in cyclic syntax: the domain and the nature of cyclicity. This paper argues for the premise that predication domains form a Spell-out domain, and that Spell-out results in order preservation of the predication domain.

Electromagnetic effect of edges.

1973
The electromagnetic effect of edges on the radiation pattern of horn and reflector type antennas is investigated. An attempt is made to control the radiation pattern by changing the edge geometry. Both theoretical and experimental results are given.
