Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Degree of h-polynomials of edge ideals

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Combinatorics
Abstract In this paper, we investigate the degree of h-polynomials of edge ideals of finite simple graphs. In particular, we provide combinatorial formulas for the degree of the h-polynomial for various fundamental classes of graphs such as paths, cycles, and bipartite graphs.

Ideals generated by 2-minors: binomial edge ideals and polyomino ideals

open access: yes, 2020
Since the early 1990s, a classical object in commutative algebra has been the study of binomial ideals. A widely-investigated class of binomial ideals is the one containing those generated by a subset of 2-minors of an (m x n)-matrix of indeterminates.

Ideal strain gauge location for evaluating stress intensity factor in edge-cracked aluminum plates

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials
The stress intensity factor (SIF) must be determined accurately to analyze crack propagation and structural integrity in cracked material structures. This research focuses on improving the strain gauge location for single-ended fractured aluminum plates ...

Multidegrees of binomial edge ideals

open access: yesCommunications in Algebra
Let $G$ be a simple graph with binomial edge ideal $J_G$. We prove how to calculate the multidegree of $J_G$ based on combinatorial properties of $G$. In particular, we study the set $S_{\min}(G)$ defined as the collection of subsets of vertices whose prime ideals have minimum codimension.

Jump Sequences of Edge Ideals

open access: yes, 2010
Given an edge ideal of graph G, we show that if the first nonlinear strand in the resolution of $I_G$ is zero until homological stage $a_1$, then the next nonlinear strand in the resolution is zero until homological stage $2a_1$. Additionally, we define a sequence, called a \emph{jump sequence}, characterizing the highest degrees of the free resolution

Edge ideals of some edge-weighted graphs

open access: yes
This paper presents exact formulas for the regularity and depth of powers of edge ideals of an edge-weighted star graph. Additionally, we provide exact formulas for the regularity of powers of the edge ideal of an edge-weighted integrally closed path, as well as lower bounds on the depth of powers of such an edge ideal.
