Inducible tomato defences persist in detached leaves, despite differential plant variety and gene‐dependent expression

Short‐ and long‐term expression of PPO‐D, PI‐IIc and PR‐1a were assessed in intact plants and detached tomato leaves of two varieties infested with Tetranhycus urticae. Tomato defences were induced in both intact and detached leaves, but the induction levels varied with plant variety and gene assessed.

ABSTRACT This article presents an analysis of regulatory compliance in a Brazilian gillnet fishery, based on Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) tracking data. Satellite transmissions records, interpreted as proxies for gillnet haulings events, were analyzed and classified using a neural network to assess the level of compliance of the gillnet fleet.

Two eDNA Assays to Detect the Sympatric Seahorses Hippocampus hippocampus and Hippocampus guttulatus During Their Northward Range Shifts

Small and well camouflaged fish are difficult to monitor, but they do release DNA into the water (1). These assays allow for targeted monitoring of two European seahorses of conservation concern, using two primers and probe pairs with high specificity (2) and proven detections from the field (3).
