Crustal Structure Beneath Mexico City From Joint Inversion of Receiver Functions and Dispersion Curves

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 128, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Over the years, it has been clear to seismologists that the crustal structure beneath Mexico City is highly complex. This fact may influence the seismic waves' behavior when traveling through it. Consequently, many studies have been done to understand this crustal structure.

Functional diversity of snakes is explained by the landscape composition at multiple areas of influence

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 7, July 2023., 2023
This study investigated the impact of roads and landscape composition on the functional diversity of snakes in the Orinoco region of Colombia. The results suggest that landscape composition affects the functional diversity of both road‐killed snakes and those inhabiting the adjacent vegetation within an area of influence ranging from 250 to 2000 m. The

Integrating local ecological knowledge, ecological monitoring, and computer simulation to evaluate conservation outcomes

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 15, Issue 6, November/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Successful conservation of long‐lived species requires reliable understanding of long‐term trends and historical baselines. We present a framework for evaluating abundance trends and conservation outcomes for long‐lived marine species by integrating local ecological knowledge (LEK), ecological monitoring, and computer simulation, tested on a ...

Bone Microenvironment‐Suppressed T Cells Increase Osteoclast Formation and Osteolytic Bone Metastases in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Bone and Mineral Research, Volume 37, Issue 8, Page 1446-1463, August 2022., 2022
Polymorphonuclear (PMN‐) and monocytic (M‐) MDSCs are elevated in bone metastases and produce inhibitory factors like ROS, NO and PD‐L1 that suppress PD‐1+ T cells. Non‐activated T cells infiltrating bone metastases express RANKL and TNFα increasing osteoclastogenesis and osteolytic metastases.
