Modification of the Spectral Absorption Characteristics of ZnGeP2 in the THz and IR Wavelength Ranges Due to Diffusion Doping with Impurity Atoms of Mg, Se, Sn, and Pb

open access: yesCrystals
This study demonstrates that diffusion doping of ZGP single crystals with impurity atoms (Mg, Se, Sn, Pb) leads to a decrease in the specific conductivity of the samples.

Experimental Investigation of Laser Damage Limit for ZPG Infrared Single Crystal Using Deep Magnetorheological Polishing of Working Surfaces

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Zinc germanium phosphide (ZGP) crystals have garnered significant attention for their nonlinear properties, making them good candidates for powerful mid-IR optical parametric oscillators and second-harmonic generators. A ZnGeP2 single crystal was treated

The Technology Imperative in Education [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The technological imperative can be an insidious master. It can become the central goal of our endeavors rather than just one way through which goals can be reached. This misdirection can have very real and lasting consequences. For this reason, the basis for action in terms of information systems development and implementation must be kept visible to ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

RESEARCH ON THE FUNCTIONAL-TECHNOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF PROTEIN COMPLEX AND NATURAL COLOR IN THE COMPOSITION OF RESTRUCTURED HAM PRODUCTS

open access: yesFood and Environment Safety, 2020
The biopolymer complex of thermostable animal proteins (sodium caseinate, dry buttermilk, blood plasma Vepro 75 PSC), which have functional and technological properties, including stabilizing ability in the composition of restructured ham products, has ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
