EFFECTIVE INTERACTIONS ARE EFFECTIVE INTERACTIONS [PDF]
The subject of effective interactions is introduced and applications in both quantum mechanics and quantum field theory are presented. In particular the use of chiral perturbation theory as an effective low energy description of QCD is developed and it is argued that such methods rally are effective in both the meson and baryonic sectors.

Evaluating Effect Size in Psychological Research: Sense and Nonsense
Effect sizes are underappreciated and often misinterpreted—the most common mistakes being to describe them in ways that are uninformative (e.g., using arbitrary standards) or misleading (e.g., squaring effect-size rs). We propose that effect sizes can be

Cost, Effectiveness, and Cost-Effectiveness [PDF]
Pluck the goose so as to obtain the most feathers with the least hissing . — —Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Minister of Finance to King Louis XIV of France Incremental or marginal cost-effectiveness ratios are founded on a number of assumptions that weaken their suitability as a way to balance competing economic and clinical priorities. We therefore propose

Studies on heat transfer characteristics of vapor chamber under periodic-pulsed heat source
In a high-power microwave device, the intense electron beam causes a high-heat-flux on the collector’s inner surface which results in an instant temperature increase which eventually causes the output power to drop.

Influence of 0.1–10 MeV neutron-induced SEUs on estimation of terrestrial SER in a nano-scale SRAM
The impact of 0.1–10 MeV neutron-induced single-event upsets (NSEUs) on terrestrial SER (soft error rate) prediction is analyzed for several broad spectrum neutron sources based on 0.1–200 MeV NSEU energetic-dependent cross-sectional data of a 40 nm SRAM.
