Interpreting Degree Effects in the Returns to Education [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2008
Researchers often identify degree effects by including degree attainment (D) and years of schooling (S) in a wage model, yet the source of independent variation in these measures is not well understood. We argue that S is negatively correlated with ability among degree-holders because the most able graduate the fastest, but positively correlated among ...

Tuning the helical sense and elongation of polymers through the combined action of the two components of tetraalkylammonium-anion salts

open access: yesGiant, 2021
The helical sense and elongation of a helical polymer that bears the 4-ethynylanilide of (R)-α‑methoxy-α-phenylacetic acid [m-(R)-1] can be tuned by the action of the two components of tetraalkylammonium-anion salts.

Effects of Selection and Linkage on Degree of Inbreeding [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Biological Sciences, 1966
Monte Carlo computer techniques were employed to simulate inbreeding in small populations under regimes consisting of combinations of three degrees of linkage and three intensities of selection. Selection and linkage each significantly increased the rate of inbreeding in populations of a given size, although the effect of linkage was larger.

Degree of training and the novelty transfer effect [PDF]

open access: yesMemory & Cognition, 1973
Four groups of 40 Ss were given transfer tests following 2.4, 6, or 8 14-trial blocks of paired-associate training with unequal stimulus frequencies and then retested after a further training period in which the same compound stimuli were presented at equal frequencies.

Effects of Degree of Thrombocytopenia on Thrombocytopoietic Response [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1974
Abstract Rats were exchange transfused with platelet-poor blood to reduce the number of circulating platelets. When thrombocytopenia was moderate, the rate of platelet increase toward normal levels was relatively slow, whereas after severe thrombocytopenia an early slow rate of increase was followed by a rapid rate.

Degree classification and recent graduates’ ability: Is there any signalling effect? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Research across several countries has shown that degree classification (i.e. the final grade awarded to students successfully completing university) is an important determinant of graduates’ first destination outcome.

The angular effect of the beach-bound triangular slotted plate on the bed topography at 90-degree bend [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2018
Beach-bound plates are used to control the erosion of the walls of rivers and beaches. The nose of the plates has always been subject to scour due to the flow  contact with the structure. Different factors are effective in reducing the scour.
