Inverse Design of Amorphous Materials With Targeted Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AMDEN is a diffusion model framework for the inverse design of amorphous materials with targeted properties. By incorporating Hamiltonian Monte Carlo refinement into the denoising process, the framework overcomes the challenge of generating thermally relaxed disordered structures.

Why Is the Mechanism Underlying the Chiral‐Induced Selectivity Effect Still Challenging?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect is observed in many experimental configurations and for different materials. However, there are theoretical challenges in attempting to explain those results. A qualitative framework for explaining all the results is presented.

Feeding compact bulges and supermassive black holes with low angular-momentum cosmic gas at high redshift

open access: yes, 2012
We use cosmological hydrodynamical simulations to show that a significant fraction of the gas in high redshift rare massive halos falls nearly radially to their very centre on extremely short timescales.

Star-planet interactions and dynamical evolution of exoplanetary systems

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The dynamical evolution of planetary systems, after the evaporation of the accretion disk, is the result of the competition between tidal dissipation and the net angular momentum loss of the system.

Conservation of angular momentum and the inverse Faraday effect [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2009
Precession of magnetization via the inverse Faraday effect is investigated with a view of determining the fundamental limit on the precession speed. Such a limit could have important consequences for ultrafast magnetic switching. The angular momentum required for precession is shown to be supplied by the light.

Emergent Spin Supersolids in Frustrated Quantum Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights developments in the study of spin super‐solids in frustrated quantum materials. Advanced experimental characterizations and computational studies enable a comprehensive understanding of the driving mechanisms of spin super‐solidity in various layered transition‐metal compounds, bridging materials, experiments, and theory aspects.

Engineering multiphoton states for linear optics computation

open access: yes, 2006
Transformations achievable by linear optical components allow to generate the whole unitary group only when restricted to the one-photon subspace of a multimode Fock space.

Rational Tuning of Hygroscopic Oscillation of Stacked Nanoflake Assemblies for Continuous Ambient Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Higher angular momentum Kondo liquids

open access: yes, 2007
Conventional heavy Fermi liquid phases of Kondo lattices involve the formation of a “Kondo singlet” between the local moments and the conduction electrons. This Kondo singlet is usually taken to be in an internal s-wave angular momentum state.

Angular Momentum Coherences in Molecular Dynamics

open access: yes, 2021
The recent development of attosecond laser pulses provides a direct path to observing the electronic dynamics of excited molecules. Recently proposed experimental methods re- quire that the measurements be made in the molecular frame, that is, that the ...
