Impedance-effects in capacity estimation
ZOR Zeitschrift für Operations Research Methods and Models of Operations Research, 1992Summary: Formulas for the capacity of an unsignalized intersection for traffic streams which are subordinated to two or more streams of higher priority are developed. The case of only two conflicting streams analysed by \textit{J. C. Tanner} [Biometrika 54, 657-658 (1967)] is extended.

AMC and HARQ: Effective capacity analysis
2016 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2016Modern wireless systems deal with the adverse and unpredictable channel conditions using two main transmission schemes considered as complimentary: adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) and hybrid ARQ (HARQ). In this work we use the effective capacity as the performance measure to evaluate different design options.

Effects of smoking on respiratory capacity and control
Clinical Linguistics & Phonetics, 2007The purpose of this study was to provide information concerning the possible early effects of smoking on measures of respiratory capacity and control in young adult female smokers vs. nonsmokers. In particular, maximum performance test results (vital capacity and maximum phonation time) and measures of air pressures and airflows during voiceless, stop ...

Effects of Age on Work Capacity
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1970The data evidence a decrease in maximum aerobic capacity in older individuals, regardless of sex, and indicate that an acceptable level of submaximal work should be based on the maximum aerobic capacity. Healthy older individuals can have a daily energy expenditure at a rate of 30 to 50% of maximum aerobic capacity without experiencing undue fatigue.

Effective Capacity Building: The Capacity to Do What?
Parliamentary Affairs, 2012This volume addresses an important subject, one that is too often neglected in the scholarly study of legislatures. I begin by addressing the premise of the volume: that is, that capacity building matters. Why does it matter? It matters because legislatures matter.

Effecting Change in Striving to Achieve Capacity
Nurse Educator, 2007Many new nursing leaders assuming deanships and assistant or interim deanships have limited education, experience, or background to prepare them for the job. To assist new deans and those aspiring to be deans, the authors of this department, 2 deans, offer survival tips based on their personal experiences and insights.

The effect of tiotropium on the pulmonary diffusing capacity
Methods and Findings in Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, 2007To our knowledge, there is no data on the effect of tiotropium on pulmonary gas exchange in healthy subjects. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of tiotropium on pulmonary diffusing capacity. Twenty-one healthy volunteers were enrolled for a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.

Gender Effect on Oral Volume Capacity
Dysphagia, 2011Studies have shown anatomical and functional differences between men and women with respect to the mouth, pharynx, upper esophageal sphincter, and esophagus. The aim of this investigation was to analyze the influence of gender, body mass index (BMI), age, and orofacial anthropometric measurements on the intraoral maximum volume capacity for liquid. The

The Effects on the Carrying Capacity of Rangeland Pastures
1988In this section, we investigate the relationship between carcass weight of lambs and climate, in an attempt to estimate the variation in the carrying capacity of Icelandic rangelands. The necessary components of a rangeland model are discussed, but lack of suitable data at present prevents the construction of a model.
