Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

EFFECTIVE COLLISION STRENGTHS FOR ELECTRON-IMPACT EXCITATION OF Fe VIII

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2011
New extensive calculations are reported for electron collision strengths, rate coefficients, and transition probabilities for the astrophysically important lines of Fe VIII. The collision strengths have been calculated in the close-coupling approximation using the B-spline Breit-Pauli R-matrix method.

Cu‐Pd Dual Single Atoms Promoting Selective CO2 Photoreduction to C2 Products in Seawater

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cu and Pd dual single atoms anchored on TiO2 cooperatively enhance C─C coupling during CO2 photoreduction in seawater. Under xenon‐light irradiation and without a sacrificial reagent/alkaline trapping agent, the catalyst achieves highly selective acetic acid formation.

Defect‐Engineered Microwave‐Responsive Ni@C Composites From Waste PET for Catalytic Plastic Upcycling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A circular upcycling strategy transforms waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) bottles into microwave‐responsive Ni@C catalyst featuring lattice‐distorted nickel cores and defective carbon shells. These strain‐rich heterointerfaces enhance dielectric loss and promote localized microwave hotspots, accelerating peroxymonosulfate activation and polymer‐chain

MOCASSIN: a fully three-dimensional Monte Carlo photoionization code [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The study of photoionized environments is fundamental to many astrophysical problems. Up to the present most photoionization codes have numerically solved the equations of radiative transfer by making the extreme simplifying assumption of spherical ...
