Broadband Conductance Matching Effect in Conductive Metamirrors
ABSTRACT With recent advances in materials and structures, considerable progress has been achieved in realizations of thin metamaterials designed for absorbing electromagnetic waves. The thickness of most absorbers, however, is still proportional to the working wavelength in the pursuit of perfect matching of the complex input ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Anisotropic Compressive Pressure-Dependent Effective Thermal Conductivity of Granular Beds
In situ planetary effective thermal conductivity measurements are typically made using a long needle-like probe, which measures effective thermal conductivity in the probe\u27s radial (horizontal) direction.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Effective Thermal Retardation in Aquifers of Heterogeneous Hydraulic Conductivity
Thermal retardation and dispersion are important processes affecting advective heat transport in sedimentary aquifers, yet little is known how they are influenced by heterogeneity of hydraulic conductivity.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
