Shielding effectiveness of 'pigtail' connections

IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 1987
The shielding effectiveness of a 'pigtail' connection between a coaxial transmission line and a ground plane is treated rigorously by the method of moments, as a function of the type and number of pigtails and frequency. Numerical results show that the type of pigtail connection is crucial with regard to radiation and shielding effectiveness, even ...

Activity in sparsely connected excitatory neural networks: effect of connectivity

Neural Networks, 1998
The Nucleus Tractus Solitarius (NTS) of the brainstem contains a neural circuit with only excitatory connections displaying a spontaneous activity involved in the control of respiration. A model of a network with random connections is presented and is used to investigate a possible mechanism of spontaneous activity generation consisting of the ...

Interference effects in optical fiber connections

Applied Optics, 1982
Optical interference may occur in fiber connections, and this can have an important effect on transmission loss. A theoretical analysis shows that the effect occurs in both single-mode and multimode fibers and depends on fiber end face separation, the source spectrum, and the modal power distribution in the fiber.

Logical Connectives on Lattice Effect Algebras

Studia Logica, 2012
The authors study lattice effect algebras emphasizing their structure as algebraic models of non-standard symbolic logics by focusing on the interplay among conjunction (Sasaki mapping), implication and negation connectives. They characterize lattice effect algebras in terms of Sasaki algebras and compare lattice effect algebras, Hájek's BL-algebras ...

EFFECT OF DIPHENYLHYDANTOIN ON CONNECTIVE TISSUE

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009
Decreased collagen biosynthesis by 10-day-old chick embryo tibiae was observed under the influence of sodium diphenylhydantoinate. A complex was formed by the drug and ferrous or ferric ions. An inhibition of the hydroxylation of 14C-proline and 14C-lysine may be a consequence of the binding of ferrous ions to the drug.

Effect of (+)catechin on connective tissue

Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 1978
The effect of (+)catechin on connective tissue was studied in organ cultures of chick embryo tibiae and after in vivo injection in rats and mice. Collagen biosynthesis and hydroxylation of 14C-Pro-labelled protocollagen in vitro by protocollagen proline hydroxylase (PPH) were inhibited.

Effective connectivity matrix for neural ensembles

2016 38th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2016
In this paper, we present an efficient framework to study the directional interactions within the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) biological neural network from spiketrain data. We used an efficient generalized linear model (GLM) with Laguerre basis functions to model a MIMO neural system, and developed an Effective Connectivity Matrix (ECM) to ...

Functional and Effective Connectivity

2009
Neurophysiological and imaging procedures to measure brain activity, such as fMRI or EEG, are employed in neuroscience to investigate processes of functional specialisation and functional integration in the human brain. Functioal integration can be described in two distinct ways: functional connectivity and effective connectivity.

Bayesian Population Modeling of Effective Connectivity.

2005
A hierarchical model based on the Multivariate Autoregessive (MAR) process is proposed to jointly model neurological time-series collected from multiple subjects, and to characterize the distribution of MAR coefficients across the population from which those subjects were drawn.
