Nonscaling calculation of the effective diffusion coefficient in periodic channels

The effective diffusion coefficient of sucrose in 5% calcium alginate gel containing 41.6 g.d.c. l-1. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was investigated. Both free and immobilized S. cerevisiae in 0.175 cm and 0.3 cm diameter particles were used and the reactions were achieved in a medium containing 100 g l-1 sucrose and 0.05 M CaCl2.

?Uphill? hydrogen diffusion effects and hydrogen diffusion coefficients in palladium

Information concerning measurements of hydrogen diffusion coefficients over α- and β-phase ranges of hydrogen content in the palladium/hydrogen system is summarized. The utilization of palladium as a hydrogen purification membrane has constituted a background for observations of “uphill” hydrogen diffusion effects.

Effect of electrolytes on the self-diffusion coefficient of water

The self-diffusion coefficient of water in aqueous solutions of various electrolytes at a concentration of 0.1 mol dm–3 has been measured at 25°C by using the diaphragm cell technique with deuterium as tracer. The data are correlated with the viscosity B-coefficients and the entropies of hydration.
