Influence of hydrodynamics on many-particle diffusion in 2D colloidal suspensions

open access: yes, 2003
We study many-particle diffusion in 2D colloidal suspensions with full hydrodynamic interactions through a novel mesoscopic simulation technique. We focus on the behaviour of the effective scaled tracer and collective diffusion coefficients $D_T(\rho ...

Understanding Mechanisms of Whole Brain and Regional Grey Matter Atrophy in Children With MOGAD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the mechanisms driving whole brain and regional grey matter (GM) volume changes along with their clinical correlates in paediatric myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody (MOG‐Ab)–associated disease (MOGAD). Methods One‐hundred‐nine paediatric MOGAD patients from two UK centres underwent MRI at attack nadir and ...

Effect of solid thermal conductivity and particle-particle contact on effective thermodiffusion coefficient in porous media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Transient mass transfer associated to a thermal gradient through a saturated porous medium is studied experimentally and theoretically to determine the effect of solid thermal conductivity and particle-particle contact on thermodiffusion processes.

Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Measurement of concentration dependency of diffusion coefficient in ethanol-water solution under different storage condition

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2018
This study focuses on the diffusion phenomena in ethanol-water systems. The diffusion coefficient of ethanol-water systems has a strong concentration dependency originating from intermolecular interactions and the association of molecules in solution ...

Quasi-deterministic transport of Brownian particles in an oscillating periodic potential

open access: yes, 2010
We consider overdamped Brownian dynamics in a periodic potential with temporally oscillating amplitude. We analyze the transport which shows effective diffusion enhanced by the oscillations and derive approximate expressions for the diffusion coefficient.
