Dimensions of Effective College Instruction

The Review of Higher Education, 1985
Prior research on the dimensions of effective college instruction is critically summarized. Problems with factor analytic studies include: the lack of a theoretical rationale for item selection; the use of incorrect units of analysis; the lack of student randomization to classes; the failure to control for setting effects; and, low content and ...

Dimensions of Local Union Effectiveness

ILR Review, 1993
The authors develop a model of union effectiveness based on an analysis of organizational goals and use it to interpret data on 511 teachers' union locals in Pennsylvania. A factor analysis identifies five dimensions of union effectiveness in the locals: the quality or extent of (a) member participation, (b) the union's preparations for negotiations, (

MEMORY EFFECTS ON FRACTAL DIMENSION

Fractals, 1993
We present a version of the Eden model which uses a memory Markov constraint and shows a clear fractal growth. The rules of growing are very simple. Two probabilities must be selected: one corresponds to the latest step of growth and the other one to the old steps.

Dimensioning, annotation and graphic effects

1992
We have drawn attention occasionally in previous chapters to the great value of dimensioning operations in CAD. First and foremost they reduce the risk of human error by putting on to the drawing the actual calculated length or angle and not what the designer thought he meant. Secondly, they automate quite a bit of actual drawing.
