We discuss the exclusive photoproduction of π + π − pairs in photon-proton and in proton-proton collisions at high energies. The ρ 0, ω, f 2(1270), and non-resonant (Drell-Söding) contributions are considered.

Effective field theories for heavy quarkonium [PDF]
This article reviews recent theoretical developments in heavy-quarkonium physics from the point of view of effective-field theories of QCD. We discuss nonrelativistic QCD and concentrate on potential nonrelativistic QCD.

Aspects of holographic string theory [PDF]
In this thesis we study several aspects of gauge/gravity dualities. We start by analyzing the structure of the UV divergences of the Wilson loop for a general gauge/gravity duality.

Electromagnetic tomography of spin- 3 2 $$ \frac{3}{2} $$ hidden-charm strange pentaquarks
Understanding how quarks are spatially arranged inside exotic pentaquarks remains one of the key open problems in contemporary hadron spectroscopy. The electromagnetic multipole moments of hadrons provide a direct probe of their internal quark-gluon ...

Predicting isovector charmonium-like states from X(3872) properties
Using chiral effective field theory, we predict that there must be isovector charmonium-like D D ¯ ∗ $$ D{\overline{D}}^{\ast } $$ hadronic molecules with J PC = 1++ denoted as W c1.

Short-range production of three bottom mesons
Previous investigations of the three-body dynamics of B mesons have shown that no Efimov effect arises in systems composed of three B and B * mesons.

Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking in Five Dimensions [PDF]
PhDIn this thesis we focus on the construction of models in which a supersymmetry breaking hidden sector is located on one fixed point of an extra dimensional interval and the effects are gauge mediated across this interval to the other fixed point ...

Poincaré invariance in low-energy effective field theories for QCD
We present the calculations on deriving relations between the Wilson coefficients in non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics and potential non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics by exploiting the Poincare invariance. Implications of the constraints are briefly discussed in the context of the effective string theory.

A precise α s determination from the R-improved QCD static energy
The strong coupling α s is determined with high precision from fits to lattice QCD simulations on the static energy. Our theoretical setup relies on R-improving the three-loop fixed-order prediction for the static energy by removing its u = 1/2 ...
