Estimation of Effective Moisture Diffusivity of Okra for Microwave Drying
Drying Technology, 2007The effect of microwave output power and sample amount on effective moisture diffusivity were investigated using microwave drying technique on round okra (Hibiscus esculentus L.). The various microwave output powers ranging from 180 to 900 W were used for the determination of effective moisture diffusivity for constant sample amount of 100 g okra.

Modeling of Effective Moisture Diffusivity in Corn Tortilla Baking
Journal of Food Science, 2018Abstract The objective of this work was to model the mass transfer in corn tortilla baking using different approaches for effective diffusivity based on the Fick's law of diffusion and to evaluate the impact of the process on quality parameters.

A Method of Determination of Concentration Dependent Effective Moisture Diffusivity
Drying Technology, 1995ABSTRACT A method based on Fourier series solution to Fick's diffusion equation has been proposed to evaluate effective diffusivity (D) as a function of moisture content in agricultural materials undergoing shrinkage during drying process. The shrinkage kinetics of the particulate was used to correlate its instantaneous size (spherical equivalent ...

Microwave Heat Treatment of Spinach: Drying Kinetics and Effective Moisture Diffusivity
Drying Technology, 2007The effect of microwave drying technique on moisture content, moisture ratio, drying rate, drying time, effective moisture diffusivity, and porosity of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) were investigated. By increasing the microwave output powers (180–900 W) and the sample amounts (25–100 g), the drying time decreased from 18 to 3.5 min and increased from

Effective moisture diffusivity in wheat kernels during adsorption
Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 2016A modified moisture diffusion equation fits the plots between moisture ratio and time. The moisture sorption rate of grain is showed by differential form of d ( M t ) / dt .Moisture diffusivity in wheat tends to increase with temperature raise at certain RH.

Effect of geometry on the effective moisture transfer diffusion coefficient
Journal of Food Engineering, 1996Abstract The effective moisture transfer diffusion coefficient ( D eff ) of ready-to-eat breakfast cereals (RTE) is determined either from an individual particle or a bulk of material in the literature. The D eff is assumed to be the same in both cases which can be dependent on the material thickness. In this study, the effect of bed depth of

Effective Moisture Diffusivity in Porous Materials as a Function of Temperature and Moisture Content
Biotechnology Progress, 1990AbstractRegular regime theory was used to evaluate the effective moisture diffusivity of a commercial white bread, plain sheet muffin, and baking powder biscuit as a function of moisture content based on desorption experiments. Volume shrinkage during drying was also monitored.

The diffusion of moisture in food grains—II. Estimation of the effective diffusivity
Journal of Stored Products Research, 1991Abstract In Part I Thorpe et al. (J. stored Prod. Res., 27, pp. 1–9, 1991) developed an equation that describes mass transfer by diffusion in bulk stored food grains. The equation is expressed in terms of an equilibrium weighted spatial average concentration and a volume averaged temperature, along with local spatial deviations from the average ...

Moisture in Composites: The Effect of Supersonic Service on Diffusion
Journal of Composite Materials, 1975Tests were conducted to determine whether aircraft flight conditions change moisture absorption behavior in graphite-epoxy composites. Flight temperature profiles were simulated for a subsonic mission, -65°F (-54°C) for 90 minutes, and for a flight involving a subsonic segment with a supersonic dash. The simulated dash involved rapid heating to a peak

Compatibility effect on moisture diffusion in polyimide blends
Polymer, 1992Abstract Blends of rod-like PMDA-B (pyromellitic dianhydride-benzidine) and semi-flexible 6FDA-PDA (6F-dianhydride-phenylenediamine) polyimides with several different compositions were prepared. According to the results from X-ray diffractometry and FT i.r. spectrometry, these two polyimides are incompatible when mixed at room temperature for 20 min.
